Hi,
I'm trying to unfold scans of cylindrical parts (tanks) as clean as possible but using a manual polyline naturally isn't ideal.
My first idea was to create a line in FreeCad and save as 2D DXF but while it works in AutoCAD Viewer it is not loading in CloudCompare (2.14alpha Jan-11). Other formats did not export or are not suitable for polylines so I was wondering wether someone on here has a good solution at hand for this issue?
Thanks,
Simon
Circular polyline for unfolding of cylinders
Re: Circular polyline for unfolding of cylinders
Hum, too bad.
Don't hesitate to send me the DXF file (admin@cloudcompare.org) in case there's a minor thing to change on our side.
Else, if you can generate the circle (= cylindrical section) coordinates in Excel for instance, you can then export the points as a list of X Y Z coordinates in a .poly file.
As an example I've uploaded a spreadsheet to generate an ellipse (you can simply set the same radii to get a circle): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... ue&sd=true
