Can't save a point cloud as 1.4 with point format 7

Hello,

I am trying to merge two point clouds, colorize the results using data from an orthophoto, and reimport the result into qgis.

I managed to do everything, but i'm stuck at the saving part.

I can't save my newly colorized point cloud as a new .las file; if i select the default options from the save dialog, i get the following error:

An error occurred while saving 'IGN69.copc.las': the third-party library in charge of saving/loading the file has failed to perform the operation

When saving, i just let everything as default, saving with lower formats loses my rgb values. I have Las version 1.7 and point format 7 with rgb checked and everyhting else by default.

My cloud compare is version 2.13.2, compiled with msvc 1916
The LAS I/O plugin is on

I am running windows 11, with everything installed as far as i know.

Any ideas?
