Accuracy scan system

Hi all,

I know this is a rather general question, but after building a laser scan system, I need to check its accuracy..

First I can generate a point cloud with Matlab, but now I want to use CloudCompare to compare it with an original Inventor model.

Is there a way to import this inventor drawing in Cloudcompare? Or do I have to convert it to a point cloud first..

Or is this method just ridiculous and is it more efficient to convert my point cloud to a CAD model and compare it somewhere else :)

This seems quite a good idea ;)

You just have to convert your Inventor model to a format that can be imported by CC: OBJ, STL, or PLY. Then you'll be able to compute the distances between the points and this model (as a reference).
