Importing a point cloud from a stack of images from a computed tomography?

Post by santimdq93 »

Hello there, I want to know if there's a way for CloudCompare to reconstruct an object from multiple slices (326 slices) that came from doing a CT of my piece. My piece is a truncated octahedron and I have both the individual slices and the .tif file of the whole thing with the 326 slices. I want to know what's the best way to obtain the truncated octahedron from those images in CloudCompare. It's possible to reconstruct it, right?

There's no specific algorithm to do such reconstruction.

If they are close to each other, and you have a way to compute realistic/accurate surface normals, you could try your luck with the Poisson Surface Reconstruction plugin, but I wouldn't bet too much on it...
