I can't reproduce the issue.
Are you comparing with custom light and no light or with custom light and sun light? Because it's 'normal' that the display is much slower when any light is enabled, since the normals will have an impact on the display. But on my side at least (and due to how the code is written) there should be no difference between the sun light, the custom light or both.
