Hi,
It seems that there's a problem with said import. Every time I try to open E57 I see an error like this: Does anyone know why is there such problem?

Reinstallation of a stable version changed nothing, but new alpha version seems to solve this problem. Sorry for the hassle!

Weird... Can you maybe share the file with me? (admin [at] cloudcompare.org).

Another simple test is to make sure there's no special character in the filename and filepath (it can sometimes cause issues to some 3rd party libraries, and I don't remember how the E57library manages those...).
