Cloud Compare Crashing When Loading STL File

Hi, as the title suggests we are having problems when trying to load .stl files in CloudCompare. We have tried the following with no success:

1. Loading files from local profile (file-open) as well as dragging onto the app window.
2. Updated the Nividia drivers
3. Updated the version of CloudCompare to the latest, then rolled back to 2.6.3.
4. Removed previous older graphics drivers.
5. Tried running CloudCompare as admin

Please can anyone help with this, the spec of the workstation is as follows:
HP Z840 Windows 10 1803 64 bit Enterprise
