I tested already the version 2.8beta. Also this version give the same error fitting plane for pseudo horizontal point cloud. I have already sent to you (cloudcompare@danielgm.net) an email with some polyline (and associated pointcloud) and the result of fitting (in this case 2D polygon fitting) of versions 2.6.2, 2.7.0 and 2.8 (the last one downloaded four hours ago).

I tested the DXF file you sent me with the latest beta version, and it gave me the exact same result as the 2.6.2 version (this is somehow logical as I simply restored the exact same code for plane fitting).

Maybe your proxy has been tricked and it hasn't updated the installer file. To be sure, I just compiled CC again, and updated the online beta version. Try to download it and make sure that CC's executable file (CloudCompare.exe) is dated of November the 9th.
