Import / Export

Post by tonianton »

Hi,
We use very often 3D-PDF for our colorized Meshes to transmit them.
Is there any way (possibility) to Import/Export colorized Meshes into a 3D-PDF (*.u3d) Format.
Thanks

I bet it's technically possible. But quite hard (especially if we don't want to rely on Latex as Meshlab). It would be great if someone could find the time/energy to do it ;)

By the way you can already do this with Meshlab / Latex, have you tried it?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, this does not really with Meshlab / Latex, since the color information is sometimes very complex.
We create 3D models (size 10 cm to 200 m), thus the texture is still very important.
To create the models point clouds from Riegl, Faro Freestyle and Faro Laser Line Probe will be used.
Our PDF's have a size between 20 and 180 MB.
It would be VERY VERY GREAT if someone could find the time / energy to do it;)
Thanks
Toni

How much $$$ VERY VERY GREAT $$$ ? :D

Just to remind that even if CC is free, someone has to pay for it (typically by spending some free time or paid time on it).
