Plugin FARO LS - Old Version of Microsoft Visual C++

Hello,

if we install the newest version of Cloud Compare (V 2.13.2), it seems that a very old version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) - 12.0.30501 is installed, too. We guess it's part of the plugin/API (?) FARO LS. That is a security issue, because a newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ exists.

Yes, some dependencies/plugins are quite old and rely on (very) old versions of Visual Studio.

Mind that the newest version is 2.14.beta. But it still relies on old the old Faro LS package.

Hello Daniel,

is it going to be updated or is it possible to not install the affected plugin, as we actually don't need it?
Otherwise it might be a problem to use Cloud Compare furthermore, because of security reasons.

So if the issue is really with the Faro LS SDK, then it's an optional feature that you can choose not to install.
