Distance between Points ?

I want to find the distance between points but in the tree the point cloud is disabled therefore how can I enable and select points on the mesh to find the distance ?

Is there a tool already running? I which case you have to close it (especially the C2C or C2M distances computation tools, you have to hit the 'Compute' button, and then close the tool).
