checking the accuracy of scans with cc
I would like to check the accuracy of scans for my work. The scans are approx. 1x1x1 m. I want to check the accuracy of a straight wooden frame. To do this, a straight surface is to be overlaid on the frame to determine the overlap. At the end, the result is to be displayed using the standard deviation. Is this possible in Cloudcompare? If so, how? Are there any other ideas to solve my problem? - Thank you! :)

Well, I'm not a 100% sure, but you can easily isolate planar sections of a cloud (with the scissors tool for instance), then fit a plane on this subset (Tools > Fit > Plane) and eventually compute the distances between the cloud and the plan (Tools > Distances > Cloud/Primitive Dist.). Once the distances are computed, you can display the histogram, or compute the statistical parameters (Edit > Scalar fields > Compute stat. params) to get the mean value and the standard deviation.

Thanks for the input! I'm relatively new to CC and I'm missing a lot of basics... I'll give it a try right away, thank you very much!
