I am using CloudCompare to view drillhole data in 3d, especially using the Cross Section tool to limit the depth extents of the view. Is there a way to digitise polylines using newly digitised points on the central plane of the cross section? I understand how to create polylines from existing points, but it seems the points must exist first before you can snap to them. In the case I am envisioning, say a top-view, you would constrain the Z values to a window and as you clicked on the different X/Y points to create a new polyline, new points would be generated at the mid-Z value of the Z-window. Being able to "manually" interpret new surfaces on multiple planes through the body would greatly improve the functionality of CloudCompare when dealing with sparse data.
Please let me know if I am wildly off-track here.
Digitising new points/polylines onto a plane?

Ah, that's not possible with CloudCompare. That would be a brand new functionality.
