Saving Attributes

Post by TheSilviculturist »

To start, I am very new to LiDAR and cloud compare so please forgive my ignorance.

I am trying to merge some point clouds from USGS into a single cloud for simplicity. From there, I am trying to upload the whole cloud into QGIS where I plan to trim the data using shapefiles for guidelines (I don't even know if that is possible or not). My problem is that when I merge the data using the merge function under the edit tab, my data seems to lose its attributes. I say this because when I save the file from cloud compare as a .laz file and load it into QGIS no points are shown. Under layer properties in QGIS, there is nothing for the attributes where if I load one of the single point cloud files there is a whole attribute table.

This could be QGIS problem but I think it likely has something to do with merging the point clouds. Any help is greatly appreciated and I am sorry if I sound like an idiot.

Hum, hard to tell. Which 'attributes' are required by QGis?

And maybe I should have started with: which version are you using? The latest 2.13.alpha version has a new LAS I/O filter that may or may not solve or cause the issue :D
