It would be EPIC if we could select the group and save it, not in .bin but in a .las, with all the visible subclouds flattened, this would be extremelly handly for when you whant to export your layered .bin into a .las without having to merge the visible clouds, which sometimes get super deep in the tree. Could export VEGETATION in a single click without having to merge all the subtrees or tree groups, or all branches all trunks all leaves each as single .las.
It is quite painfull to do manually, also forces you to save before export and you may not hwant to save rather than to test something you've merged.
flatten visible on .las export
Re: flatten visible on .las export
I guess that would be handy indeed, but maybe a little bit complex on the coding side (especially since technically, each cloud can have different scalar fields).
Meanwhile, to select all the clouds under a group at once, you can right click on the group and use the 'Select children by type and/or name' option). You'll only have to cope with the cloning+merging hurdle.

Re: flatten visible on .las export
your proposal would be close enough but in many cases within a folder tree there are clouds enabled and others dissabled, sometimes I keep a copy of one of theese subclouds dissabled in case I screw up with the one I'm working on like delete color or whatever.
May be, you could add the option in the select childern by windows, option to select "only visible" or "only enabled" ones, with that I could simply duplicate and merge and export that resulting cloud.
I think is a middleground that must be rather easy to implement.

"rather easy to implement" ... Maybe it's time to learn how to develop then? :D

Re: flatten visible on .las export
the problem is I can´t barely find time to do my game dev job, but as my kids grow if I still keep using CC, learnign how to extend CC would definitelly be in my radar.

You will be more than welcome ;)

I known I know, I try to contribute with donations as often as I can.
Re: flatten visible on .las export
Ah ah that's nice, but donations don't give me more time to work on CC ;D
