Saving .las in Linux

Post by rnal »

Hi,

I have a point cloud in .las which I am able to load in CC. I ran the CSF filter and obtained ground points, then I wanted to save this back to a new point cloud. However, when I try to use "save" it keeps saving it to the default .bin format and there is no option to change the format (no scroll down menu). In other apps I usually just type the extension after naming the file when saving, but this has not worked in CC case.

Is there a way to save to .las?

Are you sure you select a single point cloud? LAS files can only save a single point cloud.

And make sure you select the cloud and not the group/folder that contains it.

Hi, yes I am selecting only one point cloud and it is the specific cloud rather than the folder containing it. I have the same issue if I try to save it as .txt file too.

What does the save dialog looks like on your side?

On Windows you have the 'Type' field:

I would have assumed Qt was providing more or less the same interface on all systems...

Hi it looks a bit different. There is no "choose file type" option.

And what about the drop down menu in the bottom right part?

It looks like it's just too short but it looks like the 'Type' field.

That seems to have worked, actually.

Thank you!

I guess that's a Linux way of presenting things then ;)
