Segmentation Question - Can't delete hidden points

Hi, without really fully understanding the segment tool, I went head and cleaned up my point cloud really well. I guess I closed down the tool, but did not choose to delete the points I cleaned or to keep them as a new item in the DB tree. Then I saved the file. I guess I closed and exited before ending the Segment "session".

Opening the file back up, I see my nicely cleaned point cloud, and the hidden points of course are not displaying. But I only have the single cloud layer in the DB tree. This is the cloud I want, but since there's no layer for the hidden points, when I click on the segment tool all the hidden points come back into view. Is there a way to create a new layer with these hidden points now?

Hum, that's really weird, you should not be able to achieve such a result?!

Which version are you using? And can you maybe share the bin file with me? (daniel.girardeau [at] gmail.com)

Normally, there are 3 ways to close the segmentation tool:
- 'confirm' the segmentation (green check) which will then remove the original cloud and create 2 clouds (one with the visible points, and one with the hidden points)
- 'confirm and delete hidden points' (bin icon) which will remove the original cloud and create a cloud with the visible points only
- 'cancel' (red cross) which will ... do nothing

And you should never be able to save the file while this tool is open... Therefore, I'm really confused.

Hi Daniel,
Using version 2.11.3.
I swear it happened! Unfortunately I didn't save the "problem" bin file and just started the whole clean-up process from scratch, and saved over the bin file.
I experienced a program crashed (a "fast exit" as I call it) a couple times yesterday, I am guessing maybe I was in the "paused" segment tool when it crashed? Not even sure if that makes sense. When I reloaded the file, the segment tool was not active, and all the points that I had hidden were still hidden. When I pressed the scissors button to continue cleaning up points, all the hidden points became unhidden.
Anyway, now that I know how the tool works it was faster to clean up the points the second time around, so I'm ok. I'll let you know if it happens again.
(Not sure why the app was crashing but I don't think it was the software's fault... I have been having video card issues).

Don't hesitate to use the 2.12.beta version (it's very stable - almost ready to be released - and a lot of bugs have been fixed).
