Mesh from cloud compare to SolidWorks

Hi,

I have a project where I would like to use a Lidar to scan a large area, and also scan several unit/equipment and place it around in the area scanned. However, I need to be able to import my own drawings and also model up hoses and more equipment that I can not get from the scan.

Is it possible to mesh the point cloud data for all the equipment's, transfer it into Solidwork so that I can keep working on the model there?

It is technically possible (with the Poisson Reconstruction plugin for instance), but I wouldn't advise you to use CC for meshing (I guess other tools are more indicated to do that, such as Meshlab and probably some others).

I see, but you still use CloudCompare to do some work with the point cloud first?

In what format would you save the file normally from CloudCompare?

Well CloudCompare supports quite a lot of formats, but the most common ones are LAS and E57.

And of course you have the very basic but 'universal' text format (TXT/PTS/ASC/etc.).
