Floor plan from point cloud

Dear All,
I enjoy very much using Cloudcompare as a free tool to work with LIDAR generated point clouds. Recently I have discovered that I would need to generate vector floor plans from the point clouds. I have tried the contours generated from the slides, but it only seams to fit an outer boundary of the slide. Is there a way to automatically (or even manually) trace curves along the points? When using the trace a polyline, it only allows to generate lines. I would need it to generate curves that kind of stick to the points. Thank a lot.

The 'Trace polyline' tool can try to make the segment stick a little bit more to the nearby point if you use the 'oversample' option. But it won't move the sub-segments very far from their original position.

Other than that, I don't see other options... Maybe with the Compass plugin?
