2.11.1 not working in Linux?

I try to use CloudCompare 2.11.1 in OpenSuse Leap 15.0 and Ubuntu 18.04. "snap install cloudcompare" finished without error message, but "cloudcompare.CloudCompare" results in:

QSocketNotifier: Can only be used with threads started with QThread
No protocol specified
qt.qpa.screen: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :7.0
Could not connect to any X display.

similarly on both Linux systems available to me. Is there something I can do about this, or should I supply additional information?

It looks like this issue: https://github.com/CloudCompare/CloudCo ... ssues/1284 (and probably some others on Linux recently)
