M3C2 and correlated point clouds

Post by kermarrec »

Hi,
I have a question, maybe you have any ideas that could help....
I am using simulatiosn to quantify the effect of correlations measurements on M3c2 distances. I compared two correlated point clouds that are only slightly "shifted" as a whole (i.e. no deformation of the surface, only a translation). When the noise is correlated, M3C2 distances are always smaller than the one I should find without noise. That is a very interesting result for me. But I am wondering if I could have change something in the setting that would give me other results. I have used normal computation. Maybe you have an interpretation or a suggestion. Thanks a lot for your help. best regards, gael.

Not sure what you are requiring here (which setting you want to change/add). Can you explain us a little bit more? You can also do it by email to myself (admin [at] cloudcompare.org) and to the author of M3C2 (Dimitri Lague: https://geosciences.univ-rennes1.fr/int ... itri-lague).
