Cloud Compare on Amazon EC2 Instance

Post by pfisk »

I have a EC2 compute instance on Amazon cloud. It is windows virtual machine. I installed CC but It won't run probably due to the fact that the instance doesn't have a graphics card? or is there other requirements/steps to get Cloud Compare to work on a virtual Instance?

Yes, I doubt that CC can actually run on such a configuration.

I had the same issue. I solved it by the use of the Nice DCV Software. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/dcv/latest/ ... dcv-ag.pdf
The problem with the default RDP from Microsoft is that it doesn't use the GPU driver. Instead it uses its own. The Nice Remote Desktop Software emulates a normal VGA screen therefore you can work on your EC2 g2, g3 instance like on you local workstation.

Thanks for your suggesstion. It really helped me out as well as I was facing the same issues and the problem is finally solved thanks to the doc that you provided. However, If you anyone of you wants to know anything about AWS EC2 or AWS for beginners then Cloudways has brought together an awesome blog which is briefing everything that one needs to know about AWS. It is very helpful for the beginners.
