Decimal degrees?! Oh that's why then... right now CC expects Cartesian coordinates only. So the problem is more with X and Y ;)
I was about to suggest that we could add an optional scale factor (per dimension) in the "ASCII File" loading dialog, but I'm not sure it will be enough... To convert those values in meters, do you only need to apply a scale coefficient or do you need trigonometry?

Ahh I see. Thanks for catching that! I suppose I could assign a scale coefficient to each dimension in each file before importing into CC, assuming CC does not have a function to convert entire input files..
Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
Indeed you can't apply a scaling coefficient BEFORE loading the data right now. But I think I'll add the feature I was talking about (i.e. being able to input per column scaling directly in the loading dialog) in the next version. It can be really useful sometimes and not only for this issue.

Well I suppose I've got some converting to do! Thanks for all your time and patience Daniel, it is much appreciated. I've only heard great things about CC so am very anxious to try it out. I'll be sure to check back in the future for any added features!
Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
Hi Daniel,
I think I have a similar data set. How did you multiply the Z coordinates before loading the cloud?
Cheers

Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
Well, in the previous case the data was wrongly scaled before importing it in CC. And you can only rescale it AFTER having loaded it with the 'Edit > Multiply/scale' method.
And pay attention that if your file has non Cartesian coordinates (e.g. decimal degrees) then it's not only a matter of scaling.

I'm having the exact same issue. Thanks for posting. I'll work in the recommended fixes.
Also, in regards to "Does CC complains about big coordinates or something like that?"... after producing the infamous straight line, the processing wheel in the upper left corner keeps spinning and has yet to stop - even after about 20 minutes or so. What's the implication there?? (see below)

Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
Oh the spinning wheel is only here to show that the LOD mechanism is either currently displaying the points little by little. This only means that your cloud is big ;)

Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
Hi
Also having issues importing .PTS files. (Using version 2.6.3). Only part of my clouds import successfully. Other points are missing, or scattered. I've attached an image of what the complete point cloud should look like, and how it's coming through in CC. The strange thing is that it has worked previously without any issues. As far as I can tell I'm not doing anything differently. Puzzled!

Re: Trouble importing files (Txt.,LAS,CSV..)
It's maybe an issue with the graphic card driver? (it doesn't display all the points?)
Anyway, as this version is very old, my only answer can be: use the latest version ;)
