Importing POD files

Post by AG_MJA »

Hi there,

First off, big thanks for producing such an industry slaying piece of software, it has come in very handy numerous times.

A big wish however would be the ability to open pointools *.POD files. We use this format pretty much all the time as it suits our workflow, it also take up far less space than the equivilent *.PTS file and is very efficent at display. This would be an excellent addition to the software.

(im being greedy now but, being able to save to POD file would be pretty awesome too, but not essential)

Cheers
Mark

Keep up the good work.

Hi and many thanks.

Sadly the POD format is Pointools native format and this is not the kind of thing they easily share with others ;). The fact that they just have been acquired by Bentley won't make things easier...

I'll still try to ask them (we never knows) and you can do too as a customer. But I can already guess their answer.

P.S. : I recall trying to do the same thing with Faro file formats (with the support of two of their customers and even one of their own salesmen) but their 'Senior Technical Product Manager' didn't even bother to answer us...
