Fit Plane - Transformation history

Post by mafe402f »

Hello,

do you know what for matrix is shown at the "Transformation history" > "Matrix" tab, after fitting a plane?
So far I've only figured the translation part (first 3 rows of last column): being the the same as the "Global box center" shown on the "Properties" when selecting the plane.

Thank you, and congratulations on the awesome tool!

A plane entity in CloudCompare (when created with the 'Primitive factory' for instance) is centered on zero, and horizontal (its normal is point towards +Z).

Therefore, after you fit a plane on some points, we update the plane position, by virtually applying a rotation that transform the normal from +Z to the right orientation, and then a translation to move the plane center from (0, 0, 0) to the gravity center of the points.
