Re: Canupo Suggest Classifier Crash
Hi Sean, the command line version of CANUPO is not related to Cloudcompare and is not maintained anymore. I would anyway suggest that you use the qCANUPO plugin to create a classifier as it is much easier to visualize the results and explore the impact of various choices of scales...I have not used ...

Advanced math on scalar fields
Hi Daniel, I'd like to suggest, an improvement to the math scalar in which you could : . design calculations that would use several scalars at the same time, e.g. NEWSF=sin(SF1)*SF2+3*SF3/SF4 . save and reload existing calculations (assuming the scalar names are identical) You'd ask why ? well for n...

Re: Cloud/mesh distance and projection
HI Muha, when the vertical mode is used, M3C2 considered (quite logically, I'd say ;-)) that the normal is oriented along the Z direction. If you want to compute a normal at large scale (not necessarily all the point cloud as it'd requires a specific process and could be quite long if you use all th...

Re: Cloud/mesh distance and projection
Hey, I have a similar problem, so I hope it's okay to use this thread. I have a digital terrain modell as a pointcloud with 1m raster cells. I want to compare this cloud to an erratic dense pointcloud obtained by photogrammetry and get only the height distance between those two. Since I want to hav...

Re: Cloud/mesh distance and projection
That's easily feasible with M3C2 in vertical mode or C2C (using the Z component). I use it quite often for this application: . turn your mesh into a point cloud (with a density similar to your bed data) . Use M3C2 to operate a vertical differencing between the bed point cloud and the water point clo...

Re: Canupo plug-in
HI Paul, CANUPO is very generic so you can use it for many applications (as long as the features you want to detect are geometrically different). Canupo is for example excellent for wire detection. So far, from the various applications I know it has been used for: TLS and mobile scanning data: . veg...

Re: Averaging two Clouds
The solution with the previous rasterizing option would work well if your surface is mostly horizontal. If not, you can do this with M3C2 (it's a tweak as M3C2 is not really optimized for this, but it works perfectly): . first merge the two clouds . Duplicate the resulting cloud (just because M3C2 n...

Re: M3C2-significant change
Hello CloudCompare Community! First of all, thanks a lot for this wonderful software. I've been working on CloudCompare for my internship to compare the distance result giving by C2C, C2M and M3C2. The purpose is to compare 2 point clouds of a riverbank at 2 different dates. Everything worked perfe...

Re: Quadro vs Geforce performance of Cloudcompare ?
Hi, I've finally been able to run the test with the GTX970, and it seems to be the best bang for the buck right now for CC. I bought an MSI GTX470 4GD5 OC (350 €) that is very silent and fits even small Workstation cases (e.g. the latest DELL precision are not very large and will not accomodate larg...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)
Hello everyone! I am totally new in using cloud compare and working with CANUPO and 3D data. I have a question about the plugin: Is it possible to classify/detect different vegetation objects? e.g. grass, trees, shrubs etc. Or can you recommend any method? Thanks a lot!! Hi Steffan, yes, you can de...
