Hi Dimitri,
Can you tell me which parameters I should use to calculate the normals in M3C2 given the pointdensity above? I want to know the signed distance between the two pointclouds, which would be zero in theory.
Thanks in advance !
Kind regards,
Yannick Vandenbroeck

Re: Parameters M3C2
Hi Dimitri,
I have two pointclouds of the same cube of 15 cm by 15 cm by 15 cm.
The density in cloud #1 is 18pts/cm², the density in cloud #2 is 1282pts/cm².
Regards,
Yannick

Parameters M3C2
Dear all, I have a question about the parameters to calculate the normals in the M3C2 plugin. I want them to calculate manually because I have a big difference in distance when I use the normals of Cloud1 (Edit, Normals, Compute) than when I use the 'guess param' in the plugin. I have 2 cubes of 15 ...

Re: Meaning Regitration RMS
I calculated the registration RMS with all my points. I assume this a Nearest Neighbour calculation. When I don't define a local model, i.e. Nearest Neigbour calculation, with the C2C distance, this results in a lower value than registration RMS. The C2C report does not show the number of points. So...

Meaning Regitration RMS
Dear all, What does the ICP Registration RMS actually mean? Could I assume it's a value for the systematic error of my dataset when I register two datasets of the same object? What's the relation between the ICP Registration RMS and the C2C Mean (Quadric) distance/standarddeviation? Thanks in advanc...

Re: Different Results Cloud-to-cloud distance
Thank you very much for your fast and clear answer.
Can you just tell me which formula CC uses to calculate the mean distance and std. deviation?
I tried to calculate it manually by exporting the histogram, but I don't get the same values as calculated by CC.
Thanks in advance.

Different Results Cloud-to-cloud distance
Dear all, I have a question about the cloud-to-cloud distance tool. Depending on which cloud I select as reference role/compared role, I get different results in mean distance. Nevertheless I use two exact same clouds when I which between roles. How is this possible? When the clouds are the same, th...
