Hi Daniel,
I would like to kindly ask for your help.
I have two point clouds that were recorded within an hour of each other. I need to calculate the amount of displacement that occurred in the x, y, and z coordinate between the scans. My research question is whether or not the rates of ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi Daniel,
Thank you once again for all your answers, and your patience. New question,
Q. Is it possible to draw a polygon onto the point cloud and save the polygon coordinates as a txt file?
I know it's possible to do this with point labels, but does it work in the same way for polygons?
In ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi again Daniel,
When I draw a polygon on to the point cloud, it preserves the x,y,z coordinates of the 'bounding box' - but this does not give me the true volume of the object inside the bounding box. The ice bergs are irregularly shaped, but the bounding box is a cuboid. Is there any way to ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your answer. I appreciate your help. I have a new question, very important.
I would like to know how to calculate the numerical difference (i.e., what was the amount of change that took place in terms of volume loss meters cubed) when I compare two point clouds?
When I ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
So I hope you see
1. i have a point cloud registered in UTM coordinates (eastings, northings)
2. I have digital photographs of glacier
3. I want to calculate the size of the ice inside the polygons to create categories eg. small, medium, large
4. questions - what software to draw the polygons ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your answer.
I'll try to explain in more detail my project.
I have digital photographs of a glacier (see photo attached). I took the photos using a camera. Positioned next to the camera my Professor had the laser scanner. So, I want to use the point cloud to determine the x ...

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your answer. I have a new question:
Does Cloud Compare allow you to view digital photographs, and draw polygons onto digital photographs?
Ricky

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Also - is it possible to export the points (you seen them above in the colour pink) as a shape file?
If the answer is yes, I could then import the shape file into ArcGIS.

Re: How to add points onto a point cloud
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your message. I have attached a screen shot image of the point cloud I am using. You will see there are some pink coloured points - these are the points I have manually added on top of the point cloud. I did this by clicking on "point picking", and then clicking on a point ...
