Re: ICP best registration with 4 points clouds.

Me again after some time trying out CC. When I use the ICP registration (e.g. 80 iterations, mesh vs. cloud) what happens when the resolution of the mesh is by far than the one of the cloud? How does the algorithm know which point he avoids? And, does the ICP aim at the polgyon center or rather the ...

Re: compare 2 point clouds

So, I now have that plane through the middle of all points... is there a way to lower it to make it run through the lowest of my 'rough' plane so that all points are above the new and flat plane? And then I would love to measure the distances from each point to the plane, just like the histogram doe...

Re: compare 2 point clouds

I am just trying to find the difference between the mean plane and rough plane... that is above and below. Easiest would be to let that plane run through the min. value so that all other differences are above that plane. Important here is, though, that the plane needs to be parallel to that 'rough' ...

Re: compare 2 point clouds

Thanks again for your always quick responses, do you live at your desk? ;) I now wonder if you can set the mean plane to pass through the min. point (from max min tool) so that you get the absolute z values in reference to a artificial plane which should be z=0 but still parallel to the pointcloud o...

Re: compare 2 point clouds

Is there a way to differentiate between negative and positive change of a surface - visually? Depending on the chosen color scheme there is bright area where change is biggest, independently from the direction. Can you help with that? I want negative change in one and accumulation in the other color.

Re: Mesh vs. Pointcloud

One last question (hopefully;)): Is there also a tool (e.g. slicing tool) to cut out and erase points that are at a certain height above the mean surface of a plane? I just need the roughness of some 0,5cm above the ground, everything else will spoil the mean value and the histogram. Besides being q...

Re: Mesh vs. Pointcloud

were do I get that plane from? Is it generated automatically when hitting the roughness button...its inactive after loading a single mesh/pointcloud. Thanks for your help! merci beaucoup

Re: Mesh vs. Pointcloud

Seems truely... simple! I get the kernel size and I get the LS plane but my brain can't connect the two. Is a new surface generated by the sphere around each vertice?

Re: Mesh vs. Pointcloud

Bonjour Daniel, I could figure it out before you answered, the export as a .txt or rather .xyz was the probleme;) I do have another question, though but don't want to start a new thread as it might be answered quickly again: Can you tell me about the roughness calculation? How is that done as I have...
