Re: Best computer configuration for CC?

I did some Ubuntu/Windows 7 experiments on old school PC with a dual boot (same data, same material). You know, the kind of pc that needs 15min to boot on windows while Ubuntu starts under 1 min, saving hundreds of MB of RAM. Then i did a Ubuntu/Lubuntu comparison, which saves even more RAM for the ...

Re: C2C/C2M : different results if front or back view is selected

I think the Gaussian filter on the scalar field provides the best results (with a sigma value at 3 times the initial sigma). The rendering option seems to create some artefacts (kind of moiré, that remains even when zomming in), while the rasterize option (with the average option) does not seem to a...

Re: Best computer configuration for CC?

Hi, I'm not an expert on the subject but here's my point of view : - RAM : you will need a lot if you want to treat huge files (combination of several TLS for example) - CPU : the more expensive the faster (NOT a linear curve), an old CPU will get you the same results, it will give it later - GPU : ...

Re: problem reading texture

Hi Geolux, You might want to give us a link towards a file that can't be correctly loaded. In my experience, i've had troubles to load some files on Windows if there was something weird in the path to tifle (éèà, a space, ...). If you haven't, you can try to put your file at C:\ and rename it test.ply

[SOLVED] C2C/C2M : different results if front or back view is selected

Hi, I'm pretty sure this subject has already been treated but i can't find any info on the question. My concern is about the display of cloud comparison. Here is an example : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/89034687cc.png On the left the front view of a C2M comparison of a flat object, on the right...

Re: [SOLVED] Cone/cylinder unrolling 4 n00bs

Such a n00bie move :=( Works perfectly with low resolution (10 cm, 1 cm,...), but can't compute the required 8523x45114 image (1MM GSD), despite my 32 Gb of RAM ([ccPointCloud::reserve] Not enough memory). Lacking a computer with 360 GB RAM, I shrinked my pointcloud into 20 pieces and tried again wi...

Re: [SOLVED] Cone/cylinder unrolling 4 n00bs

The rasterize tool seems a perfect fit, but i can't achieve any better than this :

Image

Although it's an interesting result, I need to keep the RGB components instead of the height colorization, what am i missing ?

Re: Cone/cylinder unrolling 4 n00bs

Yah, isn't it awesome !

Any way to render that pointcloud to an image file ? I mean, other than "Render to file".
Ideally, i'd like to give a GSD and have it geotaged.

[SOLVED] Cone/cylinder unrolling 4 n00bs

I'm struggling with something that seems trivial for everyone. I've read pretty much everything i could find on the forum/wiki about unrolling cylinder/conical meshes. However i'm getting weird results when i'm applying the transformation. Input : a subsample of a smokestack, textured mesh http://im...

Re: RANSAC Shape Detection Plugin-Cylinders merging for estimating volume of trees

Or you can set the "Minimum support points per primitive" to a higher value, so that it will decrease the amount of cylinders detected. What works fine for me is to isolate each object (in your case : each tree) as a single pointcloud, and perform the RANSAC shape detection by setting that...
