This is a really common CloudCompare gotcha, so you’re not missing something obvious. CloudCompare does not reliably write georeferencing (origin + CRS) into GeoTIFFs when rasterizing. Even if the point cloud has the correct CRS, the raster export often drops the world origin, so QGIS falls back to ...
