I figured out the issue, it is when using a different resolution in mac than your actual screen resolution, so make sure in advanced display settings to turn on screen resolution list and select the highest resolution, now it works properly. BTW very interesting thing, connecting to an external display using the HDMI solves the issue, now double clicking works and selects the point unshifted!

Sometimes you have to toggle on and off the automatic pivot point for it to work, the problem for me is, when I double click it chooses a shifted center of rotation, completely far away from my double click. This is not the case when I use the pick center of rotation tool (p). I am also using M4 mac...
