Computer Build Advice
Hello and thanks for any advice. I am compiling a new computer build, the primary use being Pix4D processing and manipulation of point clouds in Cloud Compare. I have noted that Pix4D claims the GPU does not figure into the bulk of the processing. To what degree is a high end graphics card important...

Use of Spherical Targets with Best fit tool for fine registration
Hello all and thanks for your time. My question involves the use of a specific type of spherical lidar survey target, with the Emesent Hovermap system. Last year, a white paper was released by Emesent detailing a workflow which utilized spherical survey targets in conjunction with the "Best Fit...

Re: Align Tool causing severe loss of detail
Daniel, thank you much for the response. I will send files now. The reason I did not allow the points to be re-centered is because when I do that, Civil3D will not allow me to make a surface. If I don't allow the coordinates to be translated, the surface will come in. I am certainly willing to allow...

Re: Align Tool causing severe loss of detail
I've found that the point cloud, gathered by Hovermap, needs to be scaled up by 3.7 times in order to be at the correct size.
Is this a cause for the situation?
Thank You

Align Tool causing severe loss of detail
Hi, thank sin advance for any information here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sARStRgIFr6RgvXV5THTZ-8UfMaUveS2/view?usp=sharing What is causing the file to become unusable after running the ALIGN tool? Also, why is there such a large degree of error inherent in the aligned points? Thank you much

Re: Handling large areas
Daniel, thank you much. It appears that the software is indeed using the proper graphics card. Can you think of any reason it would never go above 2 percent usage? My CPU, on the other hand, goes straight to 100 when applying the CSF filter, for instance. The performance is an issue as I cannot see ...

Re: Handling large areas
Daniel, thanks so much, I appreciate the insight. It seems that cloudcompare has several tools I need to use. I prepare topographic maps using PIX4d. I have been doing so for years, but now we see the need with certain jobs to use LiDAR to minimize areas lacking data from vegetation or other obstruc...

Handling large areas
Hi, I am a brand new user needing to integrate lidar data into a workflow currently using photogrammetry only (PIX4d). I am changing our data gathering technique because we have a project to complete that is too large to process in that manner. The data will be gathered using Emesent's Hovermap soft...
