Re: Cleaning noise from a laser scan. Any advice?

I usually use the "Segment" tool (looks like scissors) and cut/delete those areas out. Zoom around your cloud, tilt to best view of the redundant data, snap a segment line (green) polygon around the data and then pick the "Segment Out". There's a couple of good YouTube videos sho...

Re: @2.13.Alpha - "Open LAS File" Dialog Box

Yep - I can see the "Apply" and the "Apply All" buttons at the bottom, the issue lies when all the LAS files are not in the same directory structure. Hence, the re-application of the same 'customized' Standard Fields. As well, it would be good to load in the customized format all...

@2.13.Alpha - "Open LAS File" Dialog Box

When one goes to load a LAS file in '2.13.alpha', a dialog box pops up with all the LAS "Standard Field" variables so one can specify which ones to load. Can a modified "Standard Field" format be saved to a DEFAULT state so ALL LAS files are loaded with this 'pre-set' format unti...

Re: Problems with Point Picking on Point List or Trace Polyline

Hi Daniel, To answer your questions: 1 - The 'Snap' of the cursor - It is the position of the cursor when you left-click to pick the point - Hence... 'snap' of the button 2 - Yes - I always accept the 'Global Shift'. The original points are UTM so Global Shift is a 'must'. I can send you the dataset...

Re: Problems with Point Picking on Point List or Trace Polyline

Hi Daniel, Some feedback on the Point Picking. Yes - in 2.13.Alpha it is easier to pick points for both the Points List and Trace Polyline. Yes - I like the methodology. However, I did run into some problems - while picking was generally easy, sometimes a point just wouldn't want to get picked no ma...

Re: Problems with Point Picking on Point List or Trace Polyline

No - You cannot have 2 versions of CloudCompare installed at the same time (anymore). You used to be able to. Now - When you try to install a second version of CloudCompare, you are NOT prompted for an install directory as you were in the first install. When you run the second version, it overwrites...

Re: Ability to PAN while in mid-command in SEGMENTATION tool

No - it is not possible. The Segmentation green line is relative to the screen and not the model, so any rotation or movement will change the view of the point cloud but will not change the position of the segmentation green line in relation to the screen. The segmentation green line would have to b...

Ability to PAN while in mid-command in SEGMENTATION tool

Hi Daniel, Is it possible to PAN the screen display while using the SEGMENT tool? Usage - I zoom into a point cloud so points in a specific area are visible and then am using the SEGMENT tool to cut that area out. However, to continue placing the segmentation green line of the SEGMENT tool, I need t...

Re: Using CAD style ZOOM Window

DUH!! Of course. I now remember that feature from the tutorials. I spend so much time in CAD that I forgot all about that functionality. "Muscle memory".
Thanks for the reminder.
